How-to retrieve your Checkmk Cloud (SaaS) license activation key from the Customer Portal and activate it

This article shows you how to retrieve the license activation key for Checkmk Cloud (SaaS) from the Customer Portal and how to activate it.

Step-by-step Guide

  1. Open your preferred web browser.


  2. Type or copy the following URL into the address bar: https://portal.checkmk.com/web/login


  3. The Customer Portal UI will open



  4. Login using your Customer Portal user credentials


  5. Once you are logged in, select "My licenses"



  6. You will now see an overview with all the licenses your organization possesses. Click on the license ID of the license you want to get the license activation key for. 

    The license ID always starts with "CMK"





  7. You will now see the details of the selected license. Under the header "Licensing Activation" you will find the license activation key. Copy this key.

    The license activation key is only displayed in the Customer Portal as long as it is valid and has not been used for activation, yet.





  8. Type or copy the following URL into the address bar: https://admin.checkmk.cloud 


  9. Login with your Checkmk Cloud user credentials


  10. In the admin panel, navigate to "Licensing"



  11. Click on "Activate license"


  12. A pop-up will open that prompts you for the license activation key. Paste the license activation key here and click on "Activate license". 


  13. Once the license activation key has been entered and successfully validated, you get a confirmation that shows you that the license has been successfully activated on your tenant.
