Problem

Licensing in distributed monitoring: A new created remote site in a distributed setup has always the trial license status, when no online or offline license verification is proceeded. The trial period will end in 30 days and turns to a free state.

If the trial state is undetected, Notifications were ignored and the remote site exceeds 750 services, the site will reach a blocking state which avoids changing the configuration.

There might be other reasons why the license verification was not synchronized.

A notification is displayed during configuration change. License verification (online/offline) is not possible anymore due to the blocking state.

Trial period ended
The monitoring core cannot be reached. This may be because the 30-day trial period ended and you are exceeding the limit of 750 services. In this case, please apply a valid license or reduce the number of services and restart the monitoring core

Solution

If a reduction of services to 750 services is not a feasible solution, the following files can be manual transferred to the remote site.  Ensure the correct site user permission.

/opt/omd/sites/<mysite>/var/check_mk/licensing/verification_response
/opt/omd/sites/<mysite>/var/check_mk/licensing/verification_request_id
