User management in the customer portal
This article describes the process of how to manage users within the customer portal.
Guiding principles
Invite-only
Users can be added to the customer portal only through invitations by other users with sufficient permissions.
Initially, Checkmk invites the Super User to join the customer portal
Self-service
Customers' users can be managed by other users with sufficient permissions.

Invitation Triggers
Order Confirmation
When a customer confirms a sales order, a superuser for this customer is automatically created and invited accordingly
Self-service user management
When a customer's user adds a new user in the customer portal, this user gets invited
User invitation
Users get an invitation email to set a password for their account in the customer portal
The invited user needs to follow the URL under "You can set or change your password via the following URL
The invited user can now set a password for its login
After setting the password, the user can authenticate and navigate through the customer portal.
Self-service
Adding users
Click "+ Add User"
Given the appropriate Role, a user can create further users by clicking on "+ Add User" in the Users menu
Add information
Name: Supply First name and Last name
Email Address: Serves as username and login for authentication
Click on "Create"
A user based on the supplied information will be created
The user will get an invitation email to the customer portal, as described in the section 'User invitation'
Editing users
Click "edit symbol"
Edit information
Click on "Save"
The information on the user will be updated
There is no further invitation sent out
Removing users
Click "remove symbol"
Confirm user removal
The user will be removed from the customer portal
All access rights will be withdrawn
The user will not be notified about the removal
