Troubleshooting "Cannot connect to remote site: Authentication to web service" in WATO - Distributed Monitoring

"Cannot connect to remote site: Authentication to web service failed"  Error

Problem

When I try to log in to a remote site by clicking the key icon in WATO → Distributed Monitoring, I receive the error message "Cannot connect to remote site: Authentication to web service".

Solution

Please check the URL of the remote site in the site connection in Setup → General → Distributed Monitoring.

This specific error message strongly indicates that the protocol (http/https) is very likely just missing an "s".

Please check if the site you are trying to connect to is running on HTTPS and update the field URL of the remote site accordingly.
