Problem
You lost access to the Webconf and the physical console because you lost the device password.
Solution
Warning |

This will reset your appliance to factory defaults, and you will lose all data! Make sure to have working backups of the appliance and the Checkmk sites before attempting this! |
If you understand the warning above, you can reset your appliance by following the steps below:
Virtual Appliance
- Remove the virtual data volume (this is the 100 GB disk by default)
- Attach a new virtual drive with the same size as the old one
- Start the appliance
- The appliance will be reinitialized and back to the delivery state
- Configure your appliance from scratch and restore backups if necessary
Physical Appliance
- Take out both hard drives
- Format both drives (e.g., to NTFS)
