Overview

In Checkmk, the default range for SSD temperature sensors is typically set to 0-40°C. However, it may be necessary to adjust these values to align with the manufacturer's specifications.

Problem

If you receive notifications regarding critical SSD temperatures, it's important to note that the Checkmk software utilizes standard threshold values of 0-40°C when specific thresholds are not provided by the disks. However, these values may not align with the manufacturer's specifications. Therefore, it is recommended to adjust the temperature thresholds in Checkmk to match the specifications provided by the manufacturer for accurate monitoring and alerting.

Solution

Before making any adjustments, it is advisable to consult the manufacturer of your SSD to determine the recommended operational temperature range. In this particular example,  we are using a Micron SSD which has a range between 0-70°C.
