This short how-to shows you how to add the Prometheus Alert Manager via Special Agent.

The alertmanager special agent queries the "API/v1/rules" endpoint of Prometheus. This allows it to show which alarms have been triggered by Prometheus.


Step-by-step guide

  1. Create the Prometheus Alert Manager Host with "API integrations, no Checkmk Agent"

  2. Create the rule:

    Setup →  Agents → VM, Cloud, Container → Alertmanager → Add Rule

    • Name of Piggyback Host: We suggest the alert manager host, but feel free to choose what fits you best.

    • All other options, according to your settings

    • For connection options. Make sure to connect to the Prometheus instance!

    • Explicit host: the Prometheus Alert Manager host
